Coming Home
Coming home is no longer what it used to be.
Before she can even breathe a sigh of relief, she has to follow a few strict rules – and, depending on the day or the situation, many more.
Her daily life is dictated by the idea that everything she touches could potentially be infected. And anything that is infected must be disinfected.
It can sometimes take her up to two hours before she can relax.
This is an immersive photographic work.
The viewer is invited to sit on an uncomfortable stool and put on headphones to block out external noise.
The soundtrack plunges the viewer into her mind. Words and fragments of sentences follow one another in rapid succession, making it difficult to follow the train of thought.
The scans present important objects in a purely factual manner.
The bacterial cultures concretely reveal the world found on these objects and, on a deeper level, symbolise the thoughts that invade her mind.
Biography
Born in 1990 in Luxembourg, Sophie Margue has been working as a freelance photographer since 2017. In 2015, she completed her Master of Arts, specialising in photography, at the HGK in Basel. After completing her studies, she worked in Berlin as a photo editor for Interview Magazine Germany. She has presented her artistic work in various group and solo exhibitions. In 2024, she won the Young Talent Award at the CAL Spring Exhibition.
