Véronique Kolber

This ongoing project echoes the thought experiments of Schrödinger and Wigner, asking when something becomes real, and for whom. It grows from portraits of women meeting the camera in different states of seeing. Eyes open or closed, turned outward or inward, these encounters mark thresholds between visibility and interiority.

The work is grounded in the idea that perception shapes what becomes visible. Looking is never neutral. Meaning does not reside solely in the image, but emerges in the moment of encounter, when gaze, perception, and inner state intersect. I am drawn to this precise moment, when her inner world and my gaze align and, for an instant, a form of reality takes shape.

Véronique Kolber is a photographer based in Luxembourg. Her work moves between document and fiction and explores perception, memory, and inner states. For over twenty years, she has developed long-term projects focused on the visible and the unseen. She sees photography as a way to question reality and reshape it into something personal. Her work has been exhibited internationally and featured in numerous publications.
